Doug Stanhope is a twisted and charitable individual.
Last year, Doug Stanhope had a hernia surgery that cost $15K. Standup comedians don’t have health insurance, but he found some doctors who would do it free of charge. As a thank you, he vowed to do a benefit show towards a cause of their choice. Thus the benefit gig happening tonight to raise money for the Humane Society of Southern Arizona.
As you can see from the above screenshot, he also decided to auction his mother’s ashes. Why?
“Because my fans are creepy as shit. And I’m sure eBay has a rule against it.”
Both of those statements ended up being true as the auction was shut down as the bidding passed $500.

“There is no such thing as laughing at something you shouldn’t. You should laugh everywhere you can find even the slightest glimmer of humor. Life is a series of heartache, tragedy and injustice, punctuated by a few cocktails and that one trip to Reno. The more you can laugh at the ugliest parts, the better off you are.”
